Dinner and a sold-out show

Dec 18, 2023

Victorian Era England came to Cape Cod the weekend of Saturday, Dec. 16.

That weekend, students at the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School performed "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, combining their areas of expertise to create an immersive dinner theater experience.

"We're really, really excited," said Robert Genereau, English teacher and drama program instructor. "We're really proud of the work that the kids have done and we're really excited for the vocational opportunity for our culinary students this weekend."

"These people are keeping arts alive in our schools," Genereau added.

The sold-out show hosted 700 people over three nights.

"We learned a lot the first night," Genereau said. "234 guests for dinner was an enormous undertaking. We streamlined some aspects on Saturday night and really hit our groove."

While dinner with Dickens may be over, a Christmas themed dinner theater will "definitely" return next year to Upper Cape, he added. "This experience has far exceeded my wildest dreams."
