Wareham Police arrested a Middleboro man after he allegedly fired a gun during an argument near West Boulevard in Onset on Oct. 14.

Zachary Blondheim, 21, was arrested later that night and is facing multiple weapon-related charges.

Officers responded to the area of Eighth Street and West Boulevard around 10:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting. No one was shot or injured, police said.

Police believe there was an argument between several people and the suspect fired a gun from a car before fleeing. Following an investigation, detectives identified the shooter and went to the suspect’s home, accompanied by Middleboro Police.

Blondheim was held on $10,000 cash bail. He was charged with: assault with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a firearm while loaded without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Acting Police Chief John Walcek praised officers following the incident.

“As the result of good police work, the suspected shooter was identified and placed in custody less than two hours of the initial incident,” said Walcek. “While the primary suspect was arrested, this remains an active and open investigation.”
