Sofiya Elsayed was named the recipient of the Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation's “Scotty Award”  for the month of April.

A release from Wareham Middle School described Elsayed as a role model for her classmates and a person who “has a great sense of right and wrong and always advocates for others, especially for those that don't advocate for themselves.”

The foundation’s cause is “Stopping the Violence” through education and awareness and rewarding excellent students. Each month, the Scotty Award is given to one student in each grade. Students receive a certificate, a bumper sticker, and a Scotty T-shirt.
