I’m old enough to remember.... the Ocean Spray Cranberry complex at 3065 Cranberry Highway. Actually I’m not, or I didn’t live here then, but I know that that is where the Flea Market is now, and that is also where the NEW Mudstone Studios Ceramics Studios are... in the back of the building where Damian’s Food Pantry used to be at #20B. I’m definitely old enough to remember when Bennys was the best store on Cranberry Highway. And yes, I actually am, and miss it very much.  While it is difficult to explain where we are, whenever I say “across from the old Bennys,” people say “OH, OK!! I know where that is!!”

Mudstone Studios Ceramics Studios is a multi faceted new art center at 3065 Cranberry Highway, in the back of the building.  It is a studio where you can learn ceramic wheel throwing and handbuilding by taking any of a number of classes that we have to offer. It is also a studio for membership, where ceramic artists, new and experienced, pay a monthly membership and have open access to all of our facilities for creating ceramics.  It is a studio where you can “try out’ ceramic-making by purchasing a four visit pass to try your hand at it, with assistance from a member. We even recently hosted several family ceramics parties for birthdays and a Boxing Day after Christmas celebration. This spring we are collaborating with the Marion Art Center who is sponsoring  a daytime wheel throwing class for members and patrons of the Art Center.

Mudstone Studios were started 17 years ago in Warren, Rhode Island, where the original studios are currently an active artists community. Here in our Wareham location we are busy creating a wonderful ceramic artists’ community in our  spacious  new studios. Come by and see what we are up to!  During Open Studio hours there is always someone here to give you a tour and show you what we do. Open Studio hours are Monday 6-9 pm, Wednesday noon to 3 pm, and Saturday 1:30 to 4:30 pm. We would love to meet you and show you around!
