MOLLY LITTLE FILM SERIES: Lost Art – The Stories of Missing Masterpieces

Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on Tuesdays (January 21-February 25) from 11 a.m.-noon for the 34th Annual Molly Little Film Series which will focus on the stories of missing masterpieces. Attendees will learn about the theft and/or destruction of some of the world’s most famous pieces of art in a series of video classes produced by WONDRIUM (Formerly Great Courses) taught by Noah Charney, writer and art historian who specializes in the study of art crime and forgeries. The series will be presented in the Haskell Room at Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street.
On six successive Tuesday mornings (starting January 21), participants will explore the following topics in two 30-minute videos during each session: Welcome to the Museum of Lost Art; Hall of Heists: Thieves and Art They Steal (January 21); The Mob Wing: Organized Crime’s Role; Gallery of Fakes: Forgeries (January 28); The War Wing: Plundered through Conflict; The Hall of Vandals: Wreckers, Iconoclasts (February 4); Gallery of Misfortune: Lost by Accident; Disaster Wing: the Forces of Nature (February 11); No Bequest: Destroyed by Artists, Owners; The Basement: Strange and Unsolved Cases (February 18); Not in the Vault: Fabled Art that Never Was; Lost and Found: Preserving and Restoring (February 25). Snow days will be March 4 and March 11.
