Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on Thursday, August 18, at 6:30 p.m. to hear local author Nicholas Sullivan discuss how technology is changing the fishing and maritime industries at a time when people are consuming more fish than ever before.  Mr. Sullivan will highlight New Bedford’s own “Codfather” as the epitome of an old-fashioned industry that is being modernized to protect habitat and fish stocks while improving quality and choice for consumers.  The presentation will be held at the North Branch Library.

Nicholas Sullivan is a senior research fellow at The Fletcher School at Tufts University.  His new book, The Blue Revolution: Hunting, Harvesting, and Farming Seafood in the Information Age, examines the transformation of commercial fishing in the 21st century, with a special focus on New England as a model for the fishing industry in the United States and beyond.

Mr. Sullivan’s presentation will be held in the Suzanne E. McDonald Community Room at Dartmouth North Branch Library, 211 Cross Road, Dartmouth.  For more information, please email fodl.libraries@gmail.com.
