The school committee celebrated the achievements of Wareham High School senior Nicholas N. Dix during its Thursday night meeting presenting him with an award from the National School Development Council for academic growth and student leadership.

Just a few weeks prior, Dix was commended by the National Merit Scholarship Program by placing among the top 50,000 scorers in the country for the 2017 Preliminary SAT.

More than 1.6 million students nationwide took the SAT to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Dix is one of 34,000 to be commended.

“Nicolas is an exceptional student and fantastic role model,” said Wareham High School Principal Scott Palladino. “We’re very lucky to have him.”

Palladino added that Dix had also placed among the school’s top scorers for AP testing on Monday.

Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood presented Dix with his award from the National School Development Council, applauding him for his hard work and dedication.

“We look forward to Nicolas’ continued success,” Shaver-Hood said. “We’re very proud of all he’s accomplished.”
