Wareham Police: Man caught fleeing car accident had suspended license, open container of alcohol

A man who attempted to flee the scene of a car accident on Thursday has had several charges brought against him after Wareham Police reported that he was driving with a suspended license and had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

The accident occurred at Anchor Liquors around 3 p.m. on Oct. 25.

According to police, Paul Demoura, 51, of West Wareham, fled from the accident and was later pulled over on Cranberry Highway by Officer Jennifer Braley who placed him under arrest.

Demoura is charged with operating with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
