Wareham Police make 3 OUI arrests in 1 day

Wareham Police arrested three people for operating under the influence of liquor on Sunday, Jan. 13 as well as one for an outstanding warrant.

According to reports, the first arrest was made by Officers Nate Aronson and Eric Machado around 6 p.m. following a traffic stop on Cranberry Highway.

Police charged Eric Bedard, 40, of East Wareham for operating under the influence of liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. His passenger, Rebecca Ballinger, 50, of no certain address was also placed under arrest for an active warrant.

Later, at about 7 p.m., Aronson and Officer Karl Baptiste responded to calls for another erratic driver on Cranberry Highway. The officers were able to locate and stop the car, driven by John Lee, 23, of North Attleboro, near Main Ave.

Lee is charged with operating under the influence of liquor, possession of an open container in a motor vehicle and operating to endanger. 

About another hour later, around 8 p.m., officers were dispatched to Cranberry Highway once more for an accident by Wareham Ford.

At the scene, officers reportedly observed two vehicles with heavy damage.

Police said one of the drivers, James F. Sacchetti Jr. 32, of Onset, appeared to be impaired.

Two individuals hurt in the accident were transported to Tobey Hospital with minor injuries, and after an investigation Sacchetti was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

A picture of Sacchetti was not released by police.
