A gun police believe was used during an altercation Sunday night in Onset has been recovered from beneath the Point Independence Bridge.

Police said the weapon was found loaded by the South Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Dive Unit on Wednesday morning at about 8:30 a.m. Police said the gun was thrown from the bridge by the suspect as he left the area.

Police arrested and charged Zachary Blondheim, 21, of Middleboro on Oct. 14 with assault with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a firearm while loaded without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Officers responded to the area of Eighth Street and West Boulevard around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a shooting. No one was shot or injured, police said.

Police said there was an argument between several people and that Blondheim fired a gun from a car before fleeing. Following an investigation, detectives identified Blondheim as the suspected shooter and went to his home to make the arrest, accompanied by Middleboro Police.
