Wareham Police arrested a 49-year-old Providence man after a stolen credit card number was used to buy $6,000 worth of electrical supplies.

Police charged Aldrin Diaz with receiving stolen property over $1,200 and attempt to commit a crime on Jan. 17.

Police said a Baynes Electric employee reported that in early January the company took an order from a man for more than $6,000 in electrical supplies. The next day, he picked up the order. Several days later, Baynes Electric received a call from a Californian woman saying she did not authorize the purchase.

Police said the same man called back on Jan. 16 and made another order for more than $6,000 worth of supplies, and said he would pick up the items early the following day. The man in question made the purchase with a different credit card number, according to police. 

Officer Steven Joy, who took the initial report, alerted members of the detective division of the situation. Detectives staked out the business starting at 5 a.m. At about 8:45 a.m., Diaz arrived to pick up the order in a truck with Rhode Island license plates. As he was loading his vehicle he was approached by the detectives and arrested Diaz. Police said an active investigation is still underway.
