Wareham Police arrest 17 over weekend

Wareham Police arrested 17 people over the weekend on a variety of charges, including two who were charged with shoplifting.

On Feb. 1, Officer Christopher Smith arrested Briana Raponi, 32, of no certain address, on a shoplifting charged. Raponi reportedly stole a bottle of liquor from a local store and fled the scene. Police said her vehicle was spotted near the Mill Pond Diner where she was arrested. Police said the bottle of liquor was found in the car.

On Feb. 2, Joseph Dias, 30, of New Bedford, was arrested by Officers Justin Silveira and Peter Silvia at about 1:20 a.m. following a motor vehicle stop on Sandwich Road. Police said Dias had an outstanding warrant.

At noon, Katherine Greene, 30, and Daniel Russ, 38, both of Buzzards Bay, were arrested near the Dollar General by Officers Ryan Gomes and Steve Joy. Both Russ and Greene had active warrants for their arrests, according to authorities.

At about 3:15 p.m. later that day, a detective arrested Marc Silva, 39, of Buzzards Bay, for a warrant after observing him in the back seat of a car at Marion Road and Swifts Beach Road. Police said the detective was aware of Silva’s outstanding warrant.

On Feb. 3 at about 1 a.m., Officers Robert McLain and Ryan Turner arrested John Cortes, 38, of New Bedford, on High Street following a call for a disturbance. Police said Cortes had an active warrant.

At noon, Officers Zina Kelsch and Steve Joy arrested Sonia Grace, 35, of Onset, at Stop and Shop. Police said Grace allegedly tried to leave the store with more than $500 worth of items. She is charged with larceny under $1,200.

Police said 10 other people were also arrested at various times over the weekend, but did not release additional information.
