Wareham man found guilty of rape, sentenced to 4 years in prison

Sep 22, 2018

A 42-year-old Wareham man received a four-year prison sentence and three years probation after being convicted of rape.

Timothy Roderick, who lived at 116 Fearing Hill Road when the charges were filed, was convicted of two counts of rape in Plymouth County Superior Court in late September.

According to police records, Roderick’s victim reported the rape on June 3, 2016. The victim told officers she passed out in Roderick’s home after drinking. When she awoke the next morning, Roderick told her he raped her twice. The victim stated Roderick was just a friend and the two did not have a sexual relationship before the incident.

Roderick was found not guilty of indecent assault and battery on the same victim. Those charges were related to an incident from February 2016 in his home where the victim was staying for a short period of time. Records state Roderick gave the victim a sexual massage, but she didn’t recall the incident because she had been drinking.

Roderick will service his prison sentence at MCI-Cedar Junction in Walpole.
