Oct 18, 2022

A Wareham High student has been named a Commended Student in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Principal Scott Palladino presented senior Laura Clements with a Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which gives scholarships and other awards to academically talented high school students.

Clements is one of 34,000 students throughout the country recognized by the NMSC. To receive the honor, she had to be one of the 50,000 highest scorers nationwide in the PSAT and the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT).

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” an NMSC spokesperson said. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
