Wareham Fire swears in new firefighters

Jun 6, 2022

The Wareham Fire Department gathered at the Main Street station on Monday to celebrate the official badge-pinning ceremony for its most recent recruits.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the department was celebrating several classes of recruits at once. Two graduated in November 2020 after the pandemic put their courses on hold, three graduated in November 2021 and the remaining nine recruits graduated in May 2022.

After a ceremonial swearing-in, each firefighter had their badge pinned to their uniform by another department member or a loved one: a mother, grandmother, wife or girlfriend.

Chief John Kelley served as master of ceremonies, introducing each firefighter. He pinned the badges of a few recruits, including his daughter, Savannah Kelley.

Chief Kelley said that the new call firefighters are “phenomenal” and said they work great as a group.
