Wareham Fire receives two grants for new equipment

Aug 30, 2020

The Wareham Fire District has received two grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency that will help firefighters breath fresh air and purchase a new apparatus.

The first grant, in the amount of $5,000, will be used to retrofit two self-contained breathing apparatus masks into full face respirators.
The second grant is much larger: $909,090.

The district will be putting those funds toward the purchase of a new aerial tower/quint apparatus.

That fire engine will replace two trucks current owned by the district: a ladder from 1985 and an E-One Engine from 1988.

The first grant is part of a covid relief program, while the second is part of the federal agency’s annual Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
