Tickets for the 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast on Jan. 21 are now available for purchase.

The breakfast, hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford/Wareham, recognizes students selected by the staff of each of Wareham’s schools who embody the spirit of the slain civil rights leader.

These schools including Upper Cape Tech and Bishop Stang High School as well as the Gleason Family YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Wareham Boys and Girls Club, located at the Hammond School in Onset.

A hot breakfast will be provided by Big Daddy’s Chef on Fire, after which principals from each of the town’s schools, and representatives from other organizations, will introduce their selections for the Martin Luther King award as well as Eric Britto, this year’s keynote speaker.

The New Bedford native was chosen by an organizing committee representing local businesses, clergy, youth organizations, and the School Department for his work developing bully-free zones in community centers, playgrounds, school yards and neighborhoods.

Advance tickets for the breakfast are $15 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. To buy tickets, call the Boys and Girls Club of Wareham at 508-322-8722 or stop by the club any day between 2 and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Limited tickets will be available at the door at $20 for adults and $10 for seniors and children the day of the event.
