Turning Point, a special program division of Wareham Area Committee for the Homeless, is looking for help from residents to ensure every child in the area enjoys the magic of the holiday.

Turning Point’s “Holiday Outreach Program” provides clothing, gifts, and a holiday meal to families who qualify for assistance from the town of Wareham, Buzzards Bay, Carver, Marion, Mattapoisett, Middleboro, and Rochester. Last season, more than 500 children were provided some holiday magic as a result of the whole community coming together.

Community members can help in a variety of ways.

To sponsor a child or a family, sign up by sending an email to turningpointspecialprograms@gmail.com.

Donations of gift cards, especially those to the movies, for books, pizza, to Amazon or iTunes, or to clothing or grocery stores, are welcomed, along with donations of toys and other gifts.

Food donations for a holiday meal including frozen turkeys, frozen hams, canned vegetables, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and other dry goods are accepted.

Contributions may be dropped off at the Annex Building at 3 Viking Dr., across from Wareham Middle School and next to the Andersson Track, during donation drop-off hours or mailed to: WACH Special Programs, PO Box 486, Wareham, MA 02571.

Residents can volunteer their time during the drop-off hours, beginning Dec. 3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m., or on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Donations should be brought to the Annex Building at 3 Viking Dr., across from Wareham Middle School and next to the Andersson Track.

All donations are due on or before Dec. 18.

Anyone in need this holiday season should apply for assistance at turningpointspecialprograms@gmail.com.
