Learn about bird physiology, life history and species of interest in the coastal pine barrens region with the Wareham Land Trust next week on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The trust, alongside the Massachusetts Coastal Pine Barrens Partnership and Mass Audubon, is hosting a series of eBird workshops and field sessions with funding from the Cornell eBird mini-grant program.

From 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, participants can tune into a virtual workshop covering bird physiology and the eBird platform, an online birding database.

The workshop is open to all birding experience levels.

Three eBird field sessions will be held as follow-ups to the virtual workshop. Participants will be able to put their virtual learning to the test outside, and they will receive bird identification help and aid in using the eBird platform. Participation in the Sept. 7 virtual workshop is not required to attend a field session.

Field sessions will be held from 8-10 a.m. at three sites. The first field session will be on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Mass Audubon’s Ashumet Holly Wildlife Sanctuary, Falmouth, led by Mass Audubon. The second will be hosted on Monday, Sept. 19 at the Douglas S. Westgate Conservation Area in Wareham, led by the Wareham Land Trust. And the last field session will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, at Mass Audubon’s Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary, Plymouth led by Mass Audubon
