Trudy Ann Phillips, 65, of Wareham, died June 30, 2021 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. 

Trudy was born on August 21, 1955 in Wareham to Joseph “Tapper” Tavares and Beatrice Tavares. One of 11 children, she spent most of her life in Wareham surrounded by family and friends. Trudy has 7 children, Richard, Tahnisha, Jovana, Shauntia, Shaunelle, Jerae and Billy who she loved beyond measure. 

Trudy is a lifetime member of Wareham-New Bedford, Elks. Trudy volunteered her time weekly at the Elks bingo function and was the number one ticket seller. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to Foxwoods, and spending time with her Grandchildren. Trudy will be greatly missed by family and friends. 

Trudy was preceded in death by her father, Joseph “Tapper” Tavares and brother, Arnold “Arnie” Tavares. She is survived by her seven children, Richard Phillips of Wareham, Tahnisha Phillips of Wareham, Jovan Phillips of New Bedford, Shauntia Black of Wareham, Shaunelle “Coco” Black of Wareham, Jerae Black of Wareham and William Black Jr. of Wareham. She is also survived by her long-time partner, William Black Sr. of Wareham. 

Survivors also include her mother, Beatrice Tavares of Wareham; sisters, Cindy Robinson, Naomi Tavares-Silva, and Theresa Fontes of Wareham; brothers, Joseph Tavares of New Bedford, Glen Tavares of Wareham, Wayne Tavares of FL, Gary Tavares of Wareham, Perry Tavares and Tre Tavares of Wareham. Twenty Grandchildren; Glen, James, Marquez, Danisha, Richie, Raekwon, Ravaun, Riana, Jasmyn, Alexus, Jovana, Janiyah, Aaliyah, Aalyanna, Aamani, Coco, Rob, Ebony, Ivory, Serenity, and two great-grandchildren, Taejhon and Dior.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham.

Her funeral will be on Wednesday, July 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapman Funerals & Cremations. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery. Followed by a ”Celebration of Life” for both Arnold “Arnie” Tavares and Trudy Phillips, at the Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks, 2855 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.
