Submerged Car removed from Wareham River

The Wareham Natural Resources Department, along with the Wareham Police and Fire Departments, removed a car that was completely submerged at the Tempest Knob Boat Ramp on Oak Street at about 6 a.m. on Monday, April 8.

The car and water were checked and no victims were found. The owner of the car has been notified.

The car was removed from the water and chemicals were visible n the surface of the water. Due to the release of vehicle fluids, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and United States Coast Guard were notified.

The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries has placed a temporary shellfish closure of the inner portion of Wareham River. Those planning to go shellfishing should check the map posted on the Wareham Department of Natural Resources’ Facebook page.
