State Police arrest two for heroin trafficking

State Police arrested two men in Wareham on Friday for trafficking heroin.

At around 9:30 a.m., Trooper Brandyn Henson saw a Honda CR-V with an expired inspection sticker. When the driver parked, the trooper approached the car and identified the driver as Jaqua Smith, 24, of Onset, and the passenger as Shawn Panepinto, 22, of New Bedford.

The trooper found about 400 grams of heroin in the backpack.

The two suspects were arrested and transported to the Bourne Barracks. They are being held at the Plymouth COunty House of Correction on $250,000 bail for charges of trafficking in heroin. Smith is also being charged for lacking an inspection sticker.
