Seniors honored at academic awards night

Jun 3, 2022

Wareham High School’s graduating class was celebrated Thursday night as the seniors were awarded more than $367,000 worth of scholarships from local organizations, businesses and families.

Principal Scott Palladino said this year’s senior class is exceptionally academically competitive, and noted that class rank wasn’t solidified until late in the year.

“Having your high school years impacted by the coronavirus created a tough interruption,” he said. “I want to congratulate the seniors on keeping their focus and remaining dedicated to their academics in these unprecedented times.”

Palladino thanked the scholarship providers for their generosity.

He thanked the students for their hard work.

“You set the bar high and are role models for all of our students at Wareham High School to emulate,” Palladino said.

Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood said it’s been a privilege to see the students’ accomplishments in academics, leadership and community service.

“To our soon-to-be graduates: As you embark on your next journey, may you continue to grow, gain new perspective and broaden your horizons,” she said. “It is my wish for your future to be positive and bright, full of accomplishment and joy.”

Class President Bridgid Irving shared a quote from Beverly Sills: “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”

Students were also recognized for achieving high GPAs in various classes. Some were selected for other awards based on their hard work, dedication and contributions to the school community.

The students will graduate Friday night.
