Selectmen appoint Police Building Study Committee members

Nov 20, 2019

The Board of Selectmen appointed three people to the Police Building Committee on Tuesday night.

Town Moderator Claire Smith, Onset Fire District Prudential Committee member Charles Klueber and Paul Girard will now serve on the Committee.

Five Police Building Study Committee positions became available following voters' approval of $165,000 in funds for a new Public Safety Complex at Town Meeting on Nov. 28.

The complex will be home to the Police Department and Wareham Emergency Medical Services, and could also host other departments.

“I truly believe that the facility in which the Wareham Police Department is operating is truly a disgrace. They need a new modern facility to really excel,” said Klueber. “They have waited a long time and their time has come."

In 2007, Klueber took part in constructing and designing the Sagamore Station, which serves as headquarters for the Bourne Fire Department.

The Police Building Committee now has two seats left. Wareham Assistant Fire Chief John Kelley will be interviewed during the Selectmen meeting next Tuesday for one.

The selectmen also appointed Missy Dziczek to the Affordable Housing Trust and appointed Kristi Kuklinski, Charlene Mackiewicz, and Linda Jean Nelson-Bollinger to serve as election poll workers.
