School Committee considers future of Decas School

Jan 24, 2020

The School Committee met on Thursday to discuss plans for the John W. Decas School.

The committee will be submitting a warrant article for the April Town Meeting to transfer ownership of the Decas School from the school department to the town after the new elementary school, under construction on Minot Avenue, opens.

Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood said town officials want the school department to start early with the process of transferring the "care, custody and control" of the building.

The change of ownership would not take place until the new school is open in January 2022.
