Scholarships awarded in honor of Dr. Thomas Gleason

May 26, 2020

Two students have been selected to receive scholarships in honor of Dr. Thomas Gleason.

Gleason, who passed away in February, was a Wareham physician who served the community for more than 38 years. A memorial scholarship in his honor was established to support Wareham students pursuing careers in medicine.

Grace Lerner, a 2020 Upper Cape Tech graduate, received a $1,000 scholarship. Lerner has been working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an assisted living residence for more than a year, and considers nursing to be her passion. She will attend the Campbell University School of Nursing.

Jenna Iacobucci studies biology at Emmanuel College and plans to pursue a career as either a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in pediatrics or pulmonology. She received the $500 scholarship.

The Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarship will be awarded annually to a Wareham resident accepted into an educational program in a medical or allied health field. More information is available by email at gleasonscholarship@gmail.com.
