Sallie M. (Albro) Butler, 82

Sep 7, 2020

Sallie M. (Albro) Butler of Buzzards Bay passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2020, with her family at her side after a 15 month hard-fought battle with cancer.

Sallie was born on February 7, 1938 in West Bridgewater MA to Charles L. and Alice G. Raymond. She attended school in Wareham MA before marrying Richard (Dick) Butler of Buzzards Bay. They were inseparable for the next 65 years.

Sallie worked several jobs in the early years while raising her young family before being hired at first as a teacher aide then as secretary at the James F. Peebles School in Bourne which she retired from after a fulfilling 25 year career. She often spoke lovingly about the countless children, teachers, and families she would come to know through working at the school. She always enjoyed running into and catching up with former Peebles School students.

In retirement she spent her time gardening and meticulously decorating her home both inside and out for every holiday. It was going to lunch almost every day to one of her favorite restaurants with her husband Dick that ultimately became their biggest hobby. They would go so frequently that many of the waiters and waitresses became some of their closest friends. She was also a die hard fan of two things; her kitties and the Boston Red Sox with Mike Lowell being her all time favorite player. However none of her hobbies could outdo the love she had for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Within the family she was affectionately referred to as Al or Grammie Al.

In addition to her husband Richard, Sallie is survived by her two sons Richard L. Butler and his wife Claudia (Rietz) Butler and Douglas A. Butler and his wife Janet (Martin) Butler. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren Daniel Butler, Christopher John Butler with Elizabeth De la Cour, and Stacey Lynne (Butler) Berube and her husband Patrick Berube and her eight great grandchildren whom she adored. Trey Harrison Butler, Dawn Elizabeth Berube, Peter (P.J.) Berube, Amanda Butler and Lyndon Butler all of Bourne, Corbin Robbins of Carver, Deklyn Butler of Jacksonville NC, and Leah Freeman of Spokane WA. Sallie was also the mom to Lynne Dawne Butler who she is finally reunited with in Heaven. She never went a day without missing her little girl.

Sallie loved her life, her family, her home, her town and her many friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

Until we meet again fly high with the angels Grammie Al.
