Roving archivist comes to Wareham Free Library

The Wareham Free Library’s archive will soon be even better, as the library has received a grant from the Massachusetts State Historic Records Advisory Board.

As part of the grant, the library will receive help from Roving Archivist Sarah-Jane Poindexter. Poindexter reviewed the Celia Epstein Stone Research Room during her first visit on Sept. 30. She will help the library create better methods for accessing resources and creating and updating policies to help preserve the library’s special collections.

“We are grateful to the State Historic Records advisory board and Sarah-Jane Poindexter, is helping us find better ways to preserve and share Wareham’s stories for future generations,” said George Ripley, Wareham Free Library Director.

The Roving Archivist program provides leadership, advocacy, and guidance to help ensure the identification, preservation, and use of the Commonwealth’s historical resources, both public and private.
