Ronald Allen George, 76, of Wareham, died Dec. 14, 2021, in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford. He was the husband of the late Frances Jean (Richards) George and the son of the late Wayne George and Harriet Johnson.

He was born in Brockton and lived in Middleboro for many years before moving to Wareham. He graduated from Oliver Ames High School in Easton.

He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. George worked as a Dispatch Supervisor for Baystate Gas Company for many years before retiring. In the 1980s, he was a Middleboro Special Police Officer.

He was active in Freemasonry and a member of Social Harmony Lodge in Wareham,  Abraham H. Howland Lodge in New Bedford and Mayflower Lodge in Middleboro.  He loved his family and friends and spending time with them.

Survivors include his children, Tammy Lewis and her husband, William of Dighton and Mark E. George of Fall River; his siblings, his twin, Donald George of Salado, TX, Donald Dewey of Weymouth, Robert Diamond of Tacoma, WA and Eva Harris of Rutland, VT; 3 grandsons and 5 great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donna Saunders, Edward Davis and Frederick Diamond.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. 

His funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
