Recent arrests

Wareham Police made a number of arrests over the past week.

On Wednesday, July 17, Kyle Silva, 50, of New Bedford, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. by Officer Charles Pillsbury and Sergeant Kevin Reilly in Onset Center, following a scuffle in which Department of Natural Resources Officer Joshua Kimball was assaulted. Mr. Silva pushed Officer Kimball during the disturbance, and then violently resisted arrest while yelling obscenities. He was finally subdued when Harbormaster Garry Buckminster arrived and assisted in handcuffing him. Multiple Wareham Police units arrived to assist after an urgent call for back-up was received. Silva is charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. 

At 4:37 p.m., Thomson Baptiste, 31, of Bourne, was arrested by Officer Nate Aronson and Eric Machado on the railroad tracks near Depot Street. He was placed in custody after the officers discovered him walking on the tracks and located suspected heroin in his possession. Baptiste is charged with walking on a railroad track and possession of a Class “A” substance. 

At 5:50 p.m., Stanley Wood, 63, of East Wareham, was arrested by Officer Pillsbury after a motor vehicle stop on the Cranberry Highway. He is charged with operating under the influence, 4th offense, operating with a revoked license, and a marked lanes violation.

Michael Towers, 60, of Wareham, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. by Officers Jennifer Braley and Lorenzo Grosso at his residence as the result of an active warrant.

On Thursday, July 18, Cynthia Buono, 57, of Wareham, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. by Officer Pillsbury for an active warrant on Main Street.

At 5 p.m., Yvonne O’Shea, 73, of Wareham, was arrested by Officer Aronson at Walmart for trespassing.

At 10:30 p.m., Shaun Cochrane, 41, of Acushnet, was arrested by Officer Calib Larue on Marion Road following a traffic stop. During the stop it was determined there was an active warrant for his arrest.

On Friday, July 19, Elizabeth Parker, 30, of Wareham, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. by Sergeant Kevin Reilly for an active warrant. Sgt. Reilly was aware of the warrant and placed her in custody when he saw her walking on Main Street.

Justin Blier, 35, of Wareham, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. by Officer Christopher Smith and Sergeant Reilly at his residence because of an active warrant.

Michael Mazenkas, 23, of Middleboro, is being summed to court for leaving the scene of an accident and a marked lanes violation. Mr. Mazenkas is suspected of striking a pole on Weaver Street with his vehicle then fleeing the scene at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 20. A short while after the accident he was located by Middleboro Police and placed in custody there. 

At 11:20 a.m., a detective stopped a car on Sandwich Road and arrested two individuals with the assistance of Officer Aronson. Michael Tavares, 51, of Carver was placed in custody for having three active warrants, operating with a suspended license, operating with suspended registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. A passenger, Joseph Tavares, 30, of East Wareham, was placed in custody because of a warrant.

Officers Ryan Turner and Lorenzo Grosso arrested Julie Bergeron, 44, of Wareham, in the parking lot of the Wareham Plaza on Marion Road at 4:20 p.m.. Officer Turner was aware of an active warrant and subsequently placed her in custody. 

During this time period, other arrests were made that are shielded from public disclosure.
