Ralph E. Bradbury, Jr., 69

WAREHAM – Ralph E. Bradbury, Jr., 69, of Wareham, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his winter home in Florida. He was the husband of, Helen Anne (Filene) Bradbury, the love of his life.

Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Ralph E. Bradbury, Sr. and the late Norma (Brown) Bradbury Bergeron and her husband Jack Bergeron. Because of his father’smilitary service, Ralph lived all over the world, but considered Bridgewater his home.

Currently a Wareham resident, as well as a winter resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2017. Ralph graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1972, where he excelled in sports including football, baseball and basketball and was named most athletic and MVP, and even had an opportunity to try out for the Patriots. To prove he was not only good at sports, Ralph was also president of the chess club. He worked for many years as a warehouse receiver, and most recently worked at Lowe’s in Kingston for 10 years prior to retiring. He was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes with his family, but most of all loved spending time with his grandkids. Ralph was an adventurous traveler, with his favorite places being Alaska and Hawaii. When he wasn’t traveling you would always find his beloved dogs, Koty and Keisha, by his side.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; his children, Lisa Anderson and her husband Kevin of Escondido, CA, Marianne Fonseca and her husband Dave of Halifax, and William Donovan and his wife Kristina of Houston, TX; his sisters, Debra Bradbury of Bridgewater, and Lorrie Parenteau and her husband Jeff of Prescott Valley, AZ. Also surviving are his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Bampa” and “Grampa”, Nina Donovan, Jenna Anderson, Curren Anderson, Chloe Fonseca, Christopher Donovan, Connor Donovan, Isabella “Bella” Fonseca, Dorothy Donovan, Michaela Fonseca, Theodore Fonseca, Quintin Fonseca and William Donovan Jr. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

He was predeceased by his sons, the late Eric Bradbury and Christopher Donovan, and his brother, the late Tommy Bradbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Chapman Funerals and Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 5 – 8 PM. A funeral service will follow on Saturday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Central Cemetery, Carver.
