Priscilla J. (Cook) Vining, 84

Priscilla J. (Cook) Vining, 84, of Buzzards Bay, formerly of Wareham, died June 30, 2019 in Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of the late Francis E. Vining, Jr. and the daughter of the late Robert F. Cook and Matilda (Souza) Covel.

She was born in Plymouth and lived in Wareham before moving to Buzzards Bay.  She graduated from Plymouth High School.

Mrs. Vining worked as a medical assistant for Dr. John McClellen in Plymouth for many years before retiring. 

She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and taught CCD there. She was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping.  Her greatest joy was her family. 

Survivors include a son, Robert F. Edwards and his wife Karen of Plymouth; 4 daughters,  Marlene Brenner and her husband Peter of Rochester, Maureen Simoes and her husband Alberto of New Bedford, Julie Edwards and her spouse Linda Scheck-Edwards of Sandwich and Holly Edwards Decker and her husband Nikolaus of Plymouth; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Cheryle Correa and the sister of the late Anthony Cook, Lawrence and Michael Covel.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

Her funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
