A celebrity among the grade school and younger crowd visited young fans at the Best Friends Learning Center on Saturday, providing a photo opportunity and greetings.
Pete the Cat, star of several children’s books and shows, was on hand during an open house at the preschool, located at 237 Sandwich Road. Kids and parents said they were excited for the meet and greet.
“We’ve been reading the books and watching the shows,” said Vernon Bapista. “Then we heard he was coming to town and had to come check it out.”
Baptista arrived with his children, Vincent, 3, and Maximus, 2, and all three posed for a photo with Pete.
Other rooms of the preschool featured dancing, crafts and snacks. Best Friends Learning Center Director Tara Jansen noted the event was open to the public and featured a good turnout.
“Pete is very popular with a lot of kids, not just the youngest ones,” said Jansen. “He generates a lot of excitement.”
