Paul Francis Joia, Sr., 74

Paul Francis Joia, Sr., 74, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Tremont Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Wareham. He was the husband of Theresa A. (Tyson) Joia.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Helen (Joia) Andrews.

A previous resident of New Jersey, Mr. Joia was technical director for Channel 47 – Telemundo in Newark, NJ. In Wareham, he was a reporting cameraman for Wareham Community Television.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war from 1964 to 1968.

Mr. Joia was a member of the Social Harmony Lodge in Wareham and was a musician.  He was one of the early drummers for the musical group Tavares.

Survivors include his wife Theresa, his sons, Paul F. Joia, II and his wife Melissa of Melbourne, FL, Adrian E. Joia and his wife Janet of Buzzards Bay, and Andrew Garde Joia of Paris, France; his grandchildren, Nicolas, Marcos, Bridget, Lorenzo, Giselle, Adrian Joia, II and his wife Micaela, Cristian, Cayleen and Jaidan.

His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Thurs., Feb. 6, 2020 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church, Main St., Buzzards Bay at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
