Outdoor sticker sale scheduled for Wednesday, June 17

Jun 16, 2020

The town of Wareham will be hosting an outdoor sticker sale on Wednesday, June 17, for residents to obtain Beach Parking Permits, Onset Street Parking Passes and Transfer Station Stickers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sale will be held in the parking lot at Town Hall at 54 Marion Rd.

The sale was first held on Saturday, but, with lines wrapping around the middle school, the Department of Natural Resources ran out of resident beach stickers, which has never happened during Harbormaster Garry Buckminster’s tenure.

Due to the high demand for beach stickers, Buckminster said it is likely that even town residents will have a hard time finding parking. The town will not be offering one-day beach passes this year.

Although beach stickers have been available since mid-December, Buckminster said the town will not be checking stickers at beaches until June 21. Parking kiosks will be turned on July 1.

To get permits, residents must bring their vehicle registration (and a copy of the lease, if the vehicle is leased), a picture ID with birthdate for those looking for the senior price, and proof of residency in Wareham, which could be a rental lease, tax bill, or utility bill.

Payments must be made by cash or check only. Checks should be made payable to the Town of Wareham.

Social distancing will be followed.

Beach Permits cost $15 for residents, $5 for senior residents, $50 for non-residents, or $50 for a resident guest placard.

Transfer station permits cost $40 for residents, $20 for seniors, and $10 for a second permit.

Those applying for Onset Street Parking Permits must live within the bounds of the Onset Parking Program Map, which is available at www.wareham.ma.us/parking.

Onset parking permits cost $10, and visitor permits cost $5 each. Each household can purchase a maximum of four visitor permits.

Shellfish permits, Harbor Service Permits, and non-resident permits must still be obtained through the mail.
