Nathaniel “Nate” Smith, 77

Mr. Nathaniel “Nate” Smith, 77, was a resident of Plymouth for more than 30 years. Nate passed away unexpectedly in his home, peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2022.

He was born on June 24, 1944 in Florida, but, at a tender age of 3 months, Pittsburg, PA became his home. Nate was an outstanding son of the late John E. Hill of Pittsburgh and the late Willa Mae Willie of Rome, GA. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara (Monteiro) Smith.

A man of many talents, Nate was a member of the Pinehills Golf Club, fishing groups, NRA and he was an excellent chef, photographer and DJ. He worked in the automotive industry for well over 30 years and was a Northeast Manager for General Motors until his retirement.

He is survived by five daughters; Nadine Smith and husband Clinzo Douglas of Lowell, Rita Smith Wiley Adams and husband Marvin Adams of Detroit, MI, Tracy Smith and late husband Scott Dickey of Lowell, Angela Smith Holley and husband Robert of Onset, and the late Nachelle Smith of New Jersey; his son Nathaniel Smith, Jr. of Detroit, MI. He is also survived by two sisters, Donna L. Hill of Randolph, and Catherine Y. Willie of No. Chelmsford, and one brother, Arthur J. Willie of Lowell, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Terrence Anthony Smith and a host of aunts and uncles.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4-7 p.m. His funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14 at the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, 6 Rogers Ave., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Agawam Cemetery, Wareham.
