Nov 3, 2018

Nancy A. Sullivan of Dayton, Maine, passed away on Oct. 22 at the age of 83. She was born on Nov. 1, 1934, to Thomas and Gertrude Thompson in Middleboro. She graduated from Wareham High School and Catherine Labouré School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Nancy married her husband Dick on Nov. 16, 1957, and worked as a surgical nurse until her children Kathy and Jimmy were born. For many years, Nancy was an active member and officer of the Massachusetts State Federation of Women's Clubs. Dick and Nancy spent the warmer seasons on the beach and boating by their vacation home in Martha's Vineyard.

They relocated to Maine in 1999 to be closer to their granddaughter, Brianna. Nancy most enjoyed working in her gardens, was a founding member of the Dayton Historical Society, and always kept her Friday lunch date with her husband Dick at the Sebago Brewing Co.

She is survived by her husband Richard R. Sullivan of Dayton; her daughter Kathleen Mattia and son-in-law Vincent Mattia of Old Orchard Beach; her granddaughter Brianna Mattia of Chicago, Illinois; her son James Sullivan of Wareham; and her sister Mary Lou Crooke of Monument Beach.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Nancy's memory can be made to the: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a charity that became very dear to Nancy after her granddaughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
