Michael Rocco Baxter, 61, of East Wareham, died Friday, September 20, unexpectedly in an automobile accident.

Born in Compton, California, he was the son of the late Howard C. & Pauline (Vicino) Baxter. A longtime resident of Bourne, he graduated from Bourne High School in 1975.

Most recently, Mike worked for the biotech company, Associates of Cape Cod in Falmouth. Mike enjoyed life. He loved the outdoors, fishing and kayaking, as well as monster trucks and riding his bike along the Cape Cod Canal. He was known for his sense of humor and his love of music, especially The Beatles and Hootie and the Blowfish.  

He is survived by his fiancé, Cathleen Elicier of Wareham; his son and “Buddy for Life” Michael R. Baxter, Jr. of Wareham; his daughters, Heather Beers-DiMarzo and her husband Dean of Bourne and Sgt. Gina Marie Baxter, U.S. Army of Ft. Drum, NY; his step-son, Ryan Elicier of Wareham; his brother, Dale Baxter of Mashpee; his four grandchildren, Brendan, Destiny, D.J. and Brooke, and several nieces and nephews.  Michael is also survived by his former wife, Kathleen Baxter. He was predeceased by his sister, the late Pam Baxter Drolette and his grandparents, the late Irene and Rocco Vicino.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019 at Church of the Good Shepherd, High St., Wareham at 11:00 AM.
