Margaret A. (Adams) Hitchcock, 89

Margaret A. (Adams) Hitchcock, 89, of Weymouth, formerly of Wareham, died July 30, 2019 in South Shore Hospital, Weymouth after a brief illness. She was the wife of Calvin W. Hitchcock and the daughter of the late Edward and Emily (Hopkins) Adams.

She was born in New Bedford and lived in Wareham all of her life. She graduated from Wareham High School, class of 1948 and from North Adams State Teachers College, class of 1952. 

Mrs. Hitchcock was a Second Grade Teacher at West Wareham Elementary School in West Wareham for 33 years before retiring in 1981. 

She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Wareham, Tobey Hospital Guild and Delta Kappa Gamma Teaching Sorority. 

She enjoyed volunteering at Tobey Hospital, camping and canoeing in Saco, ME, trips to the family camp in Eaton, NH and she loved helping people.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin W. Hitchcock of Weymouth; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Haley of Rumford, ME and Eleanor Lee of Cortez, FL; 2 nephews, James April and his wife, Deborah of Weymouth and Joseph April and his wife Judith of FL.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019  in the First Congregational Church, 11 Gibbs Ave., Wareham. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
