Lydia S. Pires, 91

Lydia S. Pires, 91, of West Wareham passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Tobey Hospital with her family at her side after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Sidney Pires Sr. and the daughter of the late Caesar and Anastasia (Sweeney) Monteiro.   

Lydia was born in Providence, RI and Graduated from Wareham High School.  She enjoyed music, dancing, photography, horse and dog racing. She enjoyed watching, Manny Ramirez, David “Big Papi” Ortiz and Stephen “Steph” Curry.

She is survived by her children; Lynne Lopes of Onset, Brian Pires of W. Wareham, Lydia Lightford of Brockton, Barry Pires of W. Wareham, Roberta Pires of W. Wareham, Sidney “Peachie” Pires of W. Wareham, Paul Pires of Onset and Darrell Pires of W. Wareham.  She was the sister of Caesar “Sam” Monteiro, Jr. of RI, Edwin “Eddie” Monteiro of Wareham, Catherine “Kakie” Monteiro of Onset and Robert “Robbie” Monteiro of West Wareham. She was also survived by 26 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  She was the mother of the late Lee Pires, Chris Pires and Patrick Pires and sister of the late Josephine ‘Maddie” Gonsalves, Mary Rose Sylvia and Anthony M. Monteiro.  

A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10 o’clock in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Tihonet Road Wareham, MA.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
