Joseph Vincent Hathaway, 48, of Wareham, died June 5, 2020 in Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Christine M. (Smith) Hathaway and the son of the late Joseph Vincent Russo and Joan Francis Hathaway.

He was born in Boston and raised in South Boston. He lived in Wareham for many years.

Mr. Hathaway worked as an Investment Banker for Brown Brothers & Harriman Company in Boston.

He coached many youth in Wareham and was a coach for the Wareham Little League, Wareham JBA, Wareham Tigers and Wareham Softball. He also enjoyed Saturday night poker games, having many pets, wrestling shows, fishing, and traveling with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Christine M. (Smith) Hathaway; 2 daughters, Ashley J. Hathaway and Jessica A. Hathaway both of Wareham; 2 sisters, Shirley Paylor of Abington and Peggy Sarro of Plympton; 3 brothers, Ronzel Hathaway of ME, Russell Hathaway of Boston, and Michael Hathaway of Boston; his best friend Roger Chouinard of Wareham. He was also a godfather to 3, a loving uncle and a great uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roberta Hathaway.

A celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at a later date.
