Joseph John Tavares, 37, of Fall River, died Dec. 22 unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Joseph Deis Tavares of Wareham, and Debra A. Barboza of Middleboro.

Joseph loved the outdoors and spending time with his family and his dog “Nia.”

He is survived by his significant other, Lauren Richard of Fall River; by his son, Nyelle Dias of New Bedford; his daughters, Jae’Lyn Tavares and Milani Middleton both of Fall River, and his expected third child; his parents, Debra Barboza of Middleboro and Joseph Tavares of Wareham; his siblings, Keri Rosado of Taunton, Shaylene Barros of Wareham, Janelle Tavares and Terryn Tavares both of New Bedford, and Courtney DePina of Mansfield; his paternal grandmother, Beatrice Tavares of Wareham; his nephews and niece, Durell Barros, Jon Spinner, Jr., Cisco Monteiro, and Lanielle Rosado. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
