John “Jack” Russell, 88

John “Jack” Russell, 88, formerly of Boston, died June 9, 2019 in Royal of Cotuit in Mashpee. He was the son of the late Myles F. Russell and Grace E. (Coyne) Russell.

He was born in Watertown and educated in Wareham and attended Bentley College (now University) in Boston.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1974.

Jack entered Sacred Hearts Seminary and Noviate in the 1950’s, withdrawing in 1958.  He looked back fondly on his year as a novice under Father Eugene Robitaille, ss.cc., in 1954-1955.

He worked for 12 years for Frank P. Bennett Co., Inc. in Boston as a bookkeeper.  He also worked for 17 years in the Word Processing (Trust Dept) of Bank of Boston at 100 Federal St.

After retiring at 65, Jack continued an interest in the Boston Symphony and attended concerts as often as possible.

He also served as a volunteer for two and a half years at a Veterans Administration Hospital while employed at the Frank Bennett Co.

Survivors include his brother, James F. Russell and his wife Ella of Mashpee; a sister, Mary Louise (Russell) Blair of East Falmouth; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Russell) Briggs.

His funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
