Jeanne Marie West, 72, of Wareham, Massachusetts sadly passed away on January 7, 2023, at home from natural causes at the age of 72. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Mary Jane West.

Jeanne was born on February 6, 1950 at Flushing Hospital in Queens, New York, was raised and attended school in East Rockaway, New York on Long Island.

Coming from New York, Jeanne was an avid Knicks, Yankees, and Giants fan, but after relocating to Massachusetts in the mid-nineties and seeing the light, became a dedicated Boston fan, especially her beloved Red Sox. Having a love for baseball, Jeanne played in a softball league soon after relocating here.

She would have reached her twenty-seventh anniversary at Tobey Hospital this May. As a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), Jeanne’s caring, humor, work ethic and smile made her a beloved friend by all who came to know her. Jeanne’s loss is felt by the entire staff, in all the departments, in all shifts. She knew them all and in turn they all held her in deep respect. Her friends at Tobey were her Massachusetts family.

In addition to working as a Health Unit Coordinator, Jeanne worked as a personal care attendant for the Kashner family, caring for Brian Michael’s special needs. Through her bond with Brian Michael, Jeanne became part of the family. “I love you to the moon and back” and “I love you too Jeannie” (followed by giggles and a hug) was a common refrain repeated countless times.

Although Jeanne led a quiet life she was loved by her Tobey family, her New York family and the Kashner family.

Survivors include her siblings Patty, Bobby (Sue), Cathy, Mary Ellen and Michael (Anna), as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside ceremony will take place at Centre Cemetery in late spring.
