Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Eleven Aircraft Structural Mechanical Chief Petty Officer Jared Michael White, 39, passed away on May 7th, 2019, in Jacksonville, Florida.

White, a native of Wareham, Massachusetts, inspired by his Grandfather, James Whall, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March of 2000. After completing recruit training at NTC Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported for duty at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron One (VX-1). In September 2002, White reported to NAS Jacksonville to serve in Patrol Squadron Sixteen (VP-16) as an Airframe Structural Mechanic. During this tour, Chief White deployed to NAS Sigonella in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

In January 2007, White reported to Patrol Squadron Thirty (VP-30). White worked in the “Trouble Shooter” shack maintaining over 27 P-3C aircraft. At VP-30, White was named “Maintainer of the Year” in 2008. White continued his career at NAS Jacksonville, serving in Patrol Squadron Forty-Five (VP-45) from February 2010 to October 2015. During this tour, White completed two successful deployments to Comalapa, El Salvador and Kadena Air Base in Japan. While at VP-45, White was named Patrol Squadron Four Five’s “Maintainer of the Year” in 2012 and “Senior Sailor of the Year” in 2013.

Chief White joined Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing ELEVEN in November of 2015. Chief White served as the Airframe Subject Matter Expert, training over 86 personnel assigned to seven different commands. Chief White helped implement critical revisions to 27 maintenance instructions and standard operating procedures.

Chief Petty Officer Jared White was awarded seven Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, six Good Conduct Medals, and numerous unit and service awards. White served over 19 years of distinguished and honorable service to the United States Navy.

White is survived by his parents, Jim and Mary White, his siblings, Brandon White, Evelyn Meredith, and Randy White, his Grandfather, James Whall, and his nieces/nephews, Logan White, Justice Margist, Kyle White, Ryan Meredith, and Jackson White.

NAS Jacksonville military and civilian personnel are invited to honor his life and dedicated naval service during a memorial mass at NAS Jacksonville St. Edwards Catholic Chapel at a time to be determined.
