High school students recognized for academic honors

Sep 1, 2021

Several Wareham High School students received high academic honors, earning Advanced Placement exam scores that qualified them for various AP Scholar awards or scoring well on their International Baccalaureate Diploma exams and earning their full IB Diplomas.

Advanced Placement

AP classes give students an opportunity to earn college credit and stand out in the college admissions process. Most four-year colleges in the United States provide credit and/or advanced placement for qualifying exam scores. “Research consistently shows that AP students who score a 3 or higher on AP Exams (based on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest) typically experience greater academic success in college and have higher college graduation rates than students who do not participate in AP,” a press release from Wareham High School said.

Cooper Goodwin student earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award — the highest AP Scholar Award — in recognition of exceptional achievement on his AP exams. He earned an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams he has taken and earned scores of 3 or higher on five or more AP exams.

Keegan Cahill, Chatham Norcross, and James Pinkham earned AP Scholar with Honor Awards by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and earning scores of 3 or higher on four or more AP exams.

Seven high school students earned AP Scholar Awards by completing three or more AP exams and earning scores of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Emma Arcaro, Madison Boutin, Laura Clements, James Fitzgerald, Allison Horton, Adrienne Padden and Emilyann Schluter.

An additional 10 high school students earned qualifying scores of 3 or higher on at least one AP exam this year.

Math & Science: Madison Boutin, Caitlyn Cavacas, Laura Clements, Kevin DeCollibus, James Fitzgerald, Avery Gilman*, Cooper Goodwin, Allison Horton, Adrienne Padden and James Pinkham.
