The Wareham High School Girls basketball team will be collecting non-perishable food items along with gently used or new backpacks or string bags for the STAGE Weekend Backpack Food program.

The program serves more than 100 students at Minot Forest Elementary School and Wareham Middle School.

Each Friday, backpacks are distributed to make sure that students have meals for the weekend. The backpacks are filled with easy-to-prepare food to make sure students are fed when other resources may not be available. 

The program is meant to ensure that children have enough to eat over the weekend so they can return to school on Monday ready to learn.

Donations can be dropped off at the Wareham High School gym during the team’s home game against Bourne on January 24. The Junior Varsity team will play at 5 p.m. and the Varsity team will play at 6:30.
