The Wareham Gatemen started the season with a win as they triumphed 3-1 over the Brewster Whitecaps on June 10 at Spillane Field.

Clouds and light showers didn’t dampen the spirit of fans and players, who persevered for the win.

The team took time before the game to say thank you to the host families, who take in Gatemen players for the summer.

There was also a moment of silence to honor longtime Gatemen supporters who passed away in the past year, Dick Wheeler and longtime photographer Dick Searles.

Kerri Sullivan threw out the first pitch. Her father, Barry Sullivan, was a Gatemen devotee.
