The organization Cape Cod Cares 4 the Troops will help host a fundraiser to send care packages to deployed troops from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Stone Path Malt, 11 Kendrick Rd.

The nonprofit organization is based in Harwich, and it organizes fundraisers and volunteer events to send boxes of goodies to U.S. troops across the world, per a press release.

People can help by going to the fundraiser and participating in a raffle or donating money or items for the care packages, which cost about $20-35 each, the release states.

Donations of personal items, like deodorant, hand wipes, shaving materials and related items are accepted. Foodstuffs, like hot chocolate packets, microwave soups, power bars and trail mix are accepted donations, and donors can also give other useful things like batteries, first aid kits, travel games and paper and pens. Items are asked to be in small or travel sizes.

A display of news clippings from the Wareham Courier, documenting local men and women who have served in world wars, will also be available for viewing during the fundraiser.
