Fun and frightful pumpkins abound at Decas Elementary School

Oct 28, 2020

Pumpkins carved by young artists were proudly on display at the John W. Decas Elementary School on the cold and rainy night of Thursday, Oct. 29.

Despite the less than ideal weather, Principal Bethany Chandler stood at the entrance to the school’s bus driveway to welcome visitors who came to admire the pumpkins from the warmth of their cars.

Chandler said she was delighted by the high turnout -- about 100 cars -- and by the number of students who brought in pumpkins to show off.

She also expressed her gratitude for the teachers and staff who volunteered their time at the event, despite the rain, and to Officers Karl Baptiste and Walter Correia from the Wareham Police Department who helped direct traffic.
